Here at Blue Ridge Canine Brittany & Devon provide professional dog training for all breeds, ages, and temperaments. We specialize in manners, obedience, and behavior modification.

Using a scientific reward based balanced approach we are able to bring out the very best in every dog that joins our pack.

We do not believe in a one size fits all method. We believe that every dog is unique and their training plan should be custom to fit their needs to create a dynamic and balanced relationship to last.

Depending on your dog's training goals we offer multiple training programs, private one on one sessions, consults, and refreshers to our graduates.

We serve all of Frederick MD & surrounding locations in the DMV & Baltimore Metro area.

Manners & Obedience Camp

This our most popular and rewarding program.

Whether your dog is just getting started with training or you’re looking to continue building on the skills they already have, our Manners & Obedience Camp is the perfect choice!

This three to four-week Board & Train stay is designed around your dog’s individual training goals, needs, and personality. Perfect for pups six months and older, we focus on building a calm, confident mindset while addressing everyday behaviors and creating a solid foundation for you and your dog to continue building on together.

Throughout their stay, we may work on behaviors such as:

Jumping
Leash pulling
Over-arousal
Nuisance barking
Mild reactivity
Counter surfing
Crate manners
Threshold manners
Impulse control
General household manners
And so much more!

We take the time to discover what motivates your dog and which training tools work best for them. From there, we use those rewards and tools to reinforce good choices and create reliable, lasting behaviors.

Once their stay is complete, we pair their Board & Train experience with private follow-up lessons designed to teach you how to maintain their training and continue building on their progress at home.

Our goal is to make the transition home as smooth as possible and give you the tools and confidence to keep your dog successful.

Puppy Camp

Training starts the moment your puppy comes home!

Our 10 day Puppy Jump Start Board & Train is designed to give your young pup the foundation they need to get started on the right track.

We focus on building engagement, name recognition, confidence, socialization, shaping basic behaviors, introducing leash pressure, crate training, and creating good potty habits that you can continue working on back home.

This program is perfect for puppies between two and five months old, and it’s especially helpful for first-time dog owners who want a little extra guidance and support during those important early months. It’s also a great option for breeds that benefit from an early start to training and socialization.

Our goal is to help your puppy build confidence, learn how to engage with you, and begin understanding the basics of being a well-mannered dog. We want to give you the tools and foundation to continue building on their training once they come home.

This is the perfect beginning for your puppy, and they’ll be ahead of the game when they’re ready to return for their advanced obedience and manners training!

Slip Lead, Harness, or Martingale : Training equipment selected to best suit your puppy and their individual needs.

One-Hour In-Home Go-Home Lesson : A personalized lesson in your home to help you understand what your puppy learned and how to continue their training back home.

One Private Follow-Up Lesson A follow-up lesson to help you and your puppy stay on track and continue building on their foundation.

Video + Photo Updates : Get regular photos and videos throughout your puppy’s stay so you can see their progress and keep up with their adventures.

Outings : Your puppy will experience at least two outings during their stay.

Boarding in the trainers home : Your puppy will become apart of our pack and family to produce the perfect habits.

Discounted Private Lessons & Advanced Training Camps : Continue your puppy’s training with discounted private lessons as they grow and develop.

Behavior Camp

Our Behavior Camp Board & Train Program is designed for dogs and their owners who are struggling with more serious behavior challenges such as severe leash reactivity, extreme fear or anxiety, resource guarding, dog aggression, and other behaviors that can make everyday life difficult.

Before your dog begins their training stay, we start with a thorough evaluation to better understand your dog, their behavior, their history, and what may be contributing to their struggles. From there, we create a training plan that is customized specifically to your dog and their individual needs.

Behavior modification is not a quick fix. Building trust and a relationship with your dog is a huge part of this process. We take the time to help your dog work through their fears, insecurities, and emotional responses while teaching them new, more positive behaviors and giving them the tools to make better choices.

Every dog is different; genetics, history, environment, and other factors can all play a role in the behavior modification process. Because of this, we cannot guarantee 100% success or a complete elimination of every behavior.

Our goal is to make meaningful progress, improve your dog’s quality of life, and give both you and your dog the tools needed to continue moving forward and maintain.

Your involvement is an important part of that process. The work we do during your dog’s four- to eight-week training stay needs to be continued at home through consistent management, daily training, and obedience. Maintaining those skills and continuing to practice at home is essential for long-term success.

Jump Start Camp

Looking for a way to get you and your dog on the right track?

Our two-week Jump Start Camp is a great starting point for building a better relationship with your dog and creating a cleaner, more reliable skill set.

During this shorter Board & Train stay, we primarily focus on your dog’s general fundamentals, leash skills, and everyday obedience.

Our goal is to give you and your dog a solid foundation that you can continue building on together once they come home.

This program is designed for dogs six months and older with little to no behavioral concerns. It’s a great option for owners who want some extra guidance and help getting their dog’s basic skills headed in the right direction.

We do require an in-person consultation with Brittany or Devon before enrollment. This allows us to get to know you and your dog, discuss your goals, and make sure our Jump Start Camp is the best fit for your needs since it is shorter stay—or recommend another program if we feel there’s an option that would better support you and your dog.
